BIO
Shahd Alasaly, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Instructor. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of South Florida. She received her master鈥檚 degree in International Psychology and has extensive experience working within refugee communities, with a focus on social trauma and collective healing.
Following her master鈥檚 degree, she founded Blue Meets Blue, a humanitarian clothing line originally headquartered in Chicago that employed refugee women. Through this work, she conducted in-depth interviews and built close relationships with refugee women and families, integrating storytelling, community building, and creative expression into ethical fashion production. The initiative centered on high-end slow fashion created by artisans with prior expertise in sewing and fashion design, emphasizing collective care and community-based healing practices.
After relocating to Tampa, she pursued doctoral training in Sociology, where her research examined social psychology, identity, inequality, and the lived consequences of trauma in displaced and marginalized communities. Her work bridges academic research with community-engaged practice, centering refugee voices and emphasizing collective approaches to healing and belonging.
