  • A registration form
  • Emergency contact information
  • Required waivers or consent forms
  • Review and acknowledgment of program policies

Can a student participate if registration is incomplete?

No. All registration steps must be fully completed before participation is permitted.

Residential Options

Are there residential options available for the Global Guardians Pandemic Preparedness program?

Yes. Global Guardians participants are eligible for Rocky鈥檚 Residents, a residential add-on offered for select high school programs. This option provides 6 days and 5 nights of supervised on-campus housing, meals, and evening programming that supports community building and exposure to university life.

Is participation in Rocky鈥檚 Residents required?

No. Participation is completely optional. Students may attend Global Guardians as a day-only program at no cost.

How do families register for Rocky鈥檚 Residents?

After a student is accepted into Global Guardians, the acceptance email will include instructions on how to complete registration, along with the option to sign up for the Rocky鈥檚 Residents add-on. Space for the residential program may be limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dress Code

What dress code should participants follow during the program?

All students are required to adhere to a business casual dress code for the duration of the camp. This standard supports a respectful and professional learning environment, especially during tours, presentations, and interactions with public health professionals.

Are there additional attire requirements for lab or clinical activities?

Yes. For safety reasons, participants must wear closed-toe footwear and clothing that appropriately covers the torso, arms, and legs during any lab-adjacent or clinical activities. These guidelines help ensure student safety in environments where protective attire is necessary.

Arrival, Pick-Up & Attendance

What are the general arrival and pick-up expectations for the program?

All students are expected to arrive on time each morning and be accounted for at the end of every program day. Specific expectations vary depending on whether a student is enrolled as a Rocky鈥檚 Residents participant or attending as a commuter, and are outlined in the questions below. These guidelines ensure student safety, smooth transitions, and consistent daily attendance.

What are the arrival and pick-up expectations for commuter students?

Commuter students must be dropped off no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the program day and must be picked up within 15 minutes after the program ends. Families with unique scheduling needs should communicate with program staff in advance.

What are the arrival and pick-up expectations for Rocky鈥檚 Residents participants?

On the first day of camp, Rocky鈥檚 Residents participants will be escorted by staff from the residence hall to their high school program location to help them become familiar with the walking route and daily routine.

After day one, residential students will be expected to walk independently to and from the program unless otherwise communicated by program staff. At the end of each program day, students may return directly to their residence hall where Rocky鈥檚 Residents staff will resume supervision and evening programming.

Cancellation & Changes

What is the cancellation policy for the Global Guardians program?

Because Global Guardians is a free, application-based program, we ask that families notify us as soon as possible if circumstances arise that prevent a student from attending. Early notification allows us to offer the opportunity to a student on the waitlist.

There is no financial penalty for withdrawing from the Global Guardians program, but timely communication is essential.

What is the cancellation policy for Rocky鈥檚 Residents?

Rocky鈥檚 Residents is a paid residential add-on, and cancellations follow the standard Youth Experiences refund guidelines:

  • If you need to cancel or transfer a registration, email youthxp@usf.edu.
  • Requests received at least 15 business days prior to the start date are eligible for a refund or a transfer to another available camp, minus any administrative or processing fees.
  • Requests received within 15 business days of the start date are not eligible for a refund or transfer.
  • No refunds will be issued after the program begins, regardless of the number of days attended.
  • No refunds will be issued if a participant is dismissed due to violating conduct policies.
